My Weight Loss Story

March 2021 - The Beginning

I Was Always Overweight—Morbidly Obese.

At just 15 years old, I weighed 160kg (353lbs / 25 stone). Life felt limited, like there were things I just couldn’t do because of my weight.

I was an Air Cadet at the time, but I was told I couldn’t fly like the others because I was too heavy. That moment really hit me.

I ended up quitting for a while because I’d given up on myself. I didn’t believe weight loss was even possible for me.

But my Officer Commanding refused to let me hand in my uniform—he saw potential in me that I couldn’t see myself.

That’s when I decided to come back… and finally try to change.

I got into cycling and fitness boxing to get moving. I’d go out on my bike after school for a couple of hours, and at home I’d use an old pair of boxing gloves on a punch bag in my garage.

At first, I only did it when I felt like it. But because I enjoyed it, it quickly became something I did most days.

February 2022 - Loss, Regain, and Loss Again

I got down to 117kg—and I felt incredible.

At 17, I was finally able to fly with the Air Cadets for the first time. Most people do it at 14, so that moment meant a lot to me.

But I got comfortable.

I developed tendonitis in my elbow and had to stop boxing for a few weeks. When it healed, I kept putting it off—“tomorrow”… “next week.” Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and before I knew it, I was back up to 146kg.

I took nearly 2 years off. I just couldn’t be bothered.

Then, in Feb 2024, my Officer Commanding stepped in. He made me track my weekly meals and go through them with him. It was intense—but it worked.

That’s when I realised how important it is to have someone in your life who tells you the truth, no sugar-coating.

I started losing weight again… and this time, I fell in love with the process.

I joined a gym and began weight training.

September 2024 - Boxing

I joined a Boxing Club—and quickly realised how much I still had to learn.

Even after years of training on my own, I felt like a complete beginner again. I was 128kg at the time, and it showed.

But I stuck with it.

I’d get battered in sparring, go home frustrated, then show up again the next session. I refused to quit.

That consistency led to my first exhibition bout in November 2025, where I stepped in at 94kg.

Then in January 2026, I had my first official amateur fight against the same opponent—and won by unanimous decision.

Now I’m down to 87kg, living my best life, and aiming to inspire others to make the same change with their life.
